Our Club

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.

History

How We Got Here
More than 50 years after Georgia’s first Rotary club was founded, a group of civic-minded Atlantans saw the need for a new kind of Rotary presence in what was then called Brookwood, now Midtown. On April 24, 1956, Frederick Storey gathered four colleagues: Dr. John H. Ridley, Rufus H. Carswell, Bill Finch, and Lawrence deGive, to lay the foundation for a new club. One month later, 25 charter members were officially inducted at The Piedmont Driving Club as part of what became known as The Brookwood Rotary Club.

As Atlanta changed, so did we. In 1985, the club became Brookwood Midtown Rotary, and in 1995, we adopted the name Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club (MARC) to reflect our central place in the city.

Today

Service Above Self, Every Week
MARC is one of Atlanta’s most respected and engaged Rotary clubs. We meet every Tuesday at the Ansley Golf Club for lunch, community, and conversation. Each meeting features guest speakers from across the civic, business, and nonprofit sectors. These gatherings offer connection, insight, and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with other service-minded professionals.

Beyond our weekly lunches, MARC members are deeply involved in both local and international service projects that deliver real, lasting impact.

We are also proud of our commitment to inclusion. In 1989, immediately following Rotary International’s decision to admit women, MARC became one of the first Rotary clubs in the world to welcome them as members. Today, we continue to reflect the diversity of our community across race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual identity.

Our Future

Leading with Purpose in Midtown and Beyond
As Midtown continues to grow, so does our commitment to serving its people. MARC will keep building strong local partnerships, supporting high-impact projects, and creating opportunities for our members to lead with purpose.

We believe that the future of service lies in connection. Whether we are mentoring students, supporting nonprofits, or strengthening international ties, we remain focused on bringing people together to solve problems and build community. At MARC, members find not only ways to serve, but also a place to belong and grow.

If you are looking for meaningful connection and lasting impact, we invite you to be part of what comes next.
